Here is
a list of some projects we've completed over the past few years.
Strategic Planning and Security
A multi-national business
services firm requested our help in the
separation of its network from that of its former parent
company. We developed comprehensive systems testing and
validation plans. We also participated in the management
of the cutover to the company's new MPLS network. Sites in
Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington
DC and Boston were successfully separated from the parent
network in London with minimal downtime and full functionality.
We partnered with another technology
consulting firm to complete a
security audit at a division of a major payroll and business
services provider. We analyzed the client's security practices,
scanned the wired and wireless networks and analyzed the
physical environment for potential weaknesses. Together, we were
able to provide our joint client with much needed advice on its
network and business practices.
We designed and managed the data and telecommunications portions
of a corporate office move for a multi-state food processing
client headquartered in Chicago. We coordinated all data and
telephone circuit changes. We designed and implemented the new
data center (network, telecom, security, power and HVAC) as well
as the cabled and wireless networks for the new office. We
then coordinated the movement of all equipment to the new office
(servers, routers, firewall, RAS equipment and telephone
system). The move was completed on budget and as planned with
only overnight downtime.
Network Infrastructure Upgrades
We
recently completed an infrastructure upgrade for an industrial
manufacturing client. The work was in preparation for a
company-wide VoIP rollout. We configured and installed 25
new Cisco Catalyst switches and 38 Cisco 1240G wireless access
points across three campuses in two states. We also ran
new copper and fiber optic network cabling in several areas to
accommodate new and relocated equipment. The new network
is now more secure, more manageable and is smoothly transmitting
data, VoIP and wireless VoIP services.
A Midwest meat-packing firm recently asked us to assist in the
repair of its network after a devastating natural disaster.
In addition to getting the operation back in service, we helped
to leverage the situation into a much needed upgrade of the
network infrastructure and the telephone system. They now
have a completely upgraded network environment that meets their
increasing data
needs and has also enabled the implementation of a new VoIP communications
system.
We were engaged
to do a core network upgrade at a 200 seat law firm in the Washington D.C.
area. We re-designed
the entire network in order to implement a new IP addressing scheme and to allow for efficient use of use of VLAN segregation. We
then installed and configured a Cisco 4500 series core switch
along with several 3500 series edge switches. We also
installed a Cisco VPN concentrator and ACS server to streamline
the company's remote access needs. All of this was
integrated into existing domain authentication services for a secure and
flexible environment.
Software Development
We were recently contacted by an Illinois plumbing fixture firm
to help with its
bar-coding systems. The production and engineering groups
were looking for an enhancement to the existing custom developed bar-code labeling system. We were able to quickly and cost
effectively provide an integrated Visual Basic solution that
brought a previously manual process right out to the production
line.
A client in the meat-packing industry requested that we update
an old, proprietary weighing system that had been in use for
years. We documented the existing system and provided a
Visual Basic application that included all of the old functionality
along with several much needed enhancements. Now the
company is able to weigh and label its products on the production line as
well as track and report production data directly to SQL
servers.
